Learn More About Fastpitch Softball Gloves

Game Day-Ready: Fastpitch Softball Gloves

Make the game-winning catch with a specially crafted fastpitch softball glove.

The latest softball gloves are designed for the right blend of softness, style and control on the diamond. Get the fit and feel you need to make this season your best.

Select fastpitch softball gloves for right and left-handed players and gloves designed for the rigors of your position. Turn to softball's top brands for a glove you can count on, including Wilson®, Mizuno®, Rawlings® and many more.

Beginners and youth players should choose a smaller glove for better control. Synthetic leather gloves do not require a break-in period, making them more manageable for children. High school and adult fastpitch players can look for a more specialized glove.

Learn more about your glove construction before making your selection:

  • The web and pocket connect your fingers and your thumb, allowing for better control of the ball. Different styles of webbing are available for infielders or outfielders. Pitchers generally prefer a closed web to conceal the pitch.
  • The heel of your glove is the lower portion of the glove on the underside of the palm. This component provides protection and determines the break-in period of your glove.
  • The palm of your glove should include extra padding beneath the leather, which gives your hand added impact absorption.
  • The wrist adjustment is an optional feature on gloves. A Velcro fastener offers the convenience of pulling and adjusting the glove to your level of comfort.
  • Lacing forms the shape of your glove. Leather is the preferred material for lacing.

Your softball glove should be designed for the unique challenges of your position, so think about your needs as a player:

  • Catchers generally opt for a fingerless mitt with heavy padding to reduce sting from ball impact. Your catcher's glove should be reinforced to withstand heavy use throughout a game.
  • Players at first base also use a mitt, but with less padding than a catcher's pocket. A shallow pocket helps first basemen retrieve the ball quickly.
  • Infielders use a five-fingered glove with a shallow pocket.
  • Outfielders require a deeper pocket to catch high balls. Longer-length fingers provide the benefit of added reach.
  • Athletes who play multiple positions should look for a glove that offers as much versatility as possible.
