Need a little help in the studio? Most yogis do, and that's why yoga straps and yoga blocks are such a great addition to your practice.
Yoga blocks brace your weight against the mat, while yoga straps support your weight against your own body, offering better form and alignment in a variety of asanas.
Here are some tips to getting started with yoga straps and yoga blocks:
- The most important thing is to figure out which prop is appropriate for the postures you're trying to learn. Generally, if you're looking for support or reach against the mat, you want a block. If you're looking for support or resistance against your body, you want a strap.
- Yoga blocks are made from foam, cork or balsa wood. Foam is the lightest, but some prefer cork or balsa, as it's all natural and aesthetically pleasing.
- Straps are made from cotton, polyester or hemp, and available in various colors as well.
With a block or strap, you'll be able to right your alignment and move past your personal roadblocks. Namaste.
