Athletic Hydration: Learn About Water Bottles

Stay hydrated with high quality water bottles and hydration packs from DICK'S Sporting Goods.

Whether you need a large capacity water bottle for a backpacking trip or a slim bottle designed to fit in a bike cage, you'll find a wide selection of options to choose from.

For longer bike rides or hikes in hot or dry conditions, choose from the selection of hydration packs. With water capacities of 100 ounces and more, hydration packs are essential equipment when you need to carry water for several hours of exercise. The DICK'S Sporting Goods collection also includes valves, filters, and cleaning kits to help you maintain your hydration pack.

Shop all water bottles and hydration packs from top brands like CamelBak®, Hydro Flask®, Gatorade® and more.

Be sure to evaluate your hydration needs carefully before you purchase a water bottle or hydration pack. Carrying more water than you need can slow you down unnecessarily, while carrying too little water can have serious consequences for your health.

Water bottles are a good choice for short hikes, or for activities when you will be able to stop and refill your bottle as needed. A slim, lightweight water bottle that can fit in a bike cage is ideal for staying hydrated on shorter bike rides. Choose an insulated bottle if you expect to be hiking or riding in especially hot or cold weather conditions.

If you are preparing for long bike rides or hikes, a hydration pack may be the right choice. Hydration packs usually hold much more water than a bottle, and typically include a tube through which you can drink without using your hands.

Inspect your hydration pack's sip tube and bite valve from time to time. A cracked or broken tube will make it difficult to drink without stopping, eliminating much of the benefit of using a hands-free hydration pack.
