Check out the third generation of Callaway Big Bertha irons and hybrids. See what makes these Super Game-Improvement clubs a must-have for any golfer looking to shoot lower scores.
New Big Bertha Irons
The key feature in the latest Big Bertha irons is the Suspended Energy Core. Callaway took a Metal Injection Molded (MIM'd) Tungsten Floating Weight and suspended it within proprietary microsphere material. By suspending the floating weight, Callaway engineers were able to position the Center of Gravity (CG) deep using a three-piece iron construction. The end result is an incredibly easy-to-hit iron that enhances launch and distance.
And what was that about microsphere material? Golfers love a fast clubface, but a speedy, thin face can create excessive vibration. Golf manufacturers often use urethane to dampen this unpleasant effect, but that results in lower COR and ball speed. Callaway found a solution with microspheres, which allow Callaway's thinnest 360 Cup Face to provide incredible ball speed without the unwanted vibration.
Big Bertha Hybrids
The Big Bertha hybrid is Callaway's first hybrid to feature both Jailbreak Technology and hosel adjustability. Jailbreak refers to the two internal bars that stiffen the body of the clubhead, placing more impact load on the face to promote fast ball speed and long distance. In order to get Jailbreak to function in an adjustable design, Callaway engineers created a brand-new OptiFit Hosel that's shorter and lighter. The result is easy launch and high, long-carrying flight.
Jailbreak also works to support the ultra-thin, ultra-fast Carpenter 455 steel face, while the Hyper Speed Face Cup delivers major distance even on mis-hits.
